Good Companions Club AGM In The Village Centre 16th March 2006
This AGM was, as with the regular fortnightly meetings, well attended even though it was time to pay the annual subscriptions!
At £6.60 each the figure is quite high in comparison with other organizations in the Village, but in return members enjoy subsidised outings and visits and there is little doubt that the savings so made on these always exceed that sum!
The club is a very “social” group with all income devoted to the basics of premises hire and having well organized, subsidised – sometimes free - social events.
The Chairman, Kathy Leeder formally addressed the meeting, stating that she thought the club had enjoyed another successful year, a statement heartily endorsed by all those present. Election of officers was little more than a formality as the proposal that ALL officers should be re-elected en-bloc was unanimously supported. Accordingly, Kathy Leeder remained as Chair, Vera Chilvers as Vice-Chair, and Gwen Woodrow as Secretary and Treasurer. Gwen subsequently gave a “Treasurer’s Report” showing that the club was financially sound and operating efficiently.
Future outings/events were discussed including the arrangements for the Club’s Annual Lunch at The Horseshoes, Billingford on March 28th with everyone being allocated to cars for the journey, participation in The Village Quiz Night on March 31st , and the Annual Garden Party to be held at the Chairman’s residence “Homedale” in Harvey Lane on Saturday 19th August.
The club is seeking to boost it’s membership and for the uninformed the details are as follows:
It meets in the Village Centre at 2.30pm on the first and third Thursday of each month with formalities (mainly arranging outings), tea & cakes, a raffle, and a few houses of Bingo. It also runs a separate Bingo evening on the last Friday of every month. New members are welcomed. Contact Kathy Leeder 01379 741669 or just come along!
