All Saints Church Dickleburgh - Flower And Art Festival. September 22nd & 23rd

Filed under: Village News — sean @ 9:58 am

Flower FestivalWith the theme of ‘The Saints came Marching in’. The Floral displays representing a wide range of the biblical Saints were on display primarily produced by the Dickleburgh Flower Group and other village organizations under the watchful eye of Margaret Wakely. Over 100 paintings by local artists, strategically grouped round the church, added considerably to the decorative impact. There were floral arrangements by Ben Potterton of Blacksmith’s Cottage Nursery, Langmere winner of RHS Gold for his floral display at Hampton Court Flower Show 2006. In the Church Rooms were homemade cakes and pastries on offer, sale of the main raffle tickets and face painting with a range of refreshments available, including a selection of lunches and snacks.  In the large marquee outside the Church Rooms could be found a very large collection of books for sale plus other stalls.

On the Saturday evening there was a concert in the church with performances by; Dickleburgh Primary School , Dickleburgh Bell Ringers, Akabella (ladies singing group), an Organ Recital by David Ivory and the South Norfolk Youth Symphonic Swing Band this at a cost of £5.00.

DRSSC “Race Night” At The Village Centre, Saturday September 22nd

Filed under: Sports & Social Club — sean @ 9:55 am

Organized by the Sports & Social Club this event attracted some 40 odd “punters” who enjoyed an evening of sometimes frenzied entertainment plus a “Ploughman’s buffet and of course the licensed bar.

This is a big event to manage and following some dramatic changes in the club management structure in the previous week extra weight fell onto the remaining committee members. Attendance was slightly lower than originally anticipated but the event still raised over £400, a proportion of which is to be donated to the NSPCC.
