District Councillor, Martin Wilby was also present
The meeting was also attended by Police Constable Jim Squires to discuss the provision of a youth shelter by the Parish Council. He also invited three local youths into the meeting in order to express their views on the matter. They were warmly welcomed by the Chairman. Their attendance was coincidental with Cllr. Adlam about to give a slide presentation about the development and planning of the 6-Vill project, so they had the opportunity to observe the efforts being made by the Parish Council to provide facilities for the youth of the village. The company is now formed and the recruitment process will begin, along with liaison with those who have previously been involved in youth activities to discuss how we can assist them. Half the year’s money is now provided.
Further discussion on the provision of the youth shelter covered aspects of the nature of the structure, its location and methods of funding.
The Police Officer and Youths left the meeting to make way for Judy Ingram, an operations officer of the FIRST RESPONSE Service, who updated the meeting on the services already provided in the district and the need to recruit more “First Responders” in the area. It was suggested that the service might take a stall at the village May Fayre and details should be placed into the Parish News. Further information on this is attached to the back of this report.
