Dickleburgh Village Society Country Walk and Up-coming Events

Filed under: The Village Society — Brian Baker @ 2:37 pm

Hoping the rains would hold off, an enthusiastic group of all ages, two-legged and four-legged, set off on 18th May for our Country Walk. Carl Roe led us along the footpath through fields and woodland to Shimpling and passed the church. Soon some of us were confronted with a herd of cows with their calves, who stampeded passed us, thankfully at a respectable distance. Winding our way back to Dickleburgh along meadows and hedgerows, we ended up at the Crown for well deserved refreshments.

Dickleburgh May Fayre – Saturday 31st May 2008

Filed under: Village Events, The May Fayre — Brian Baker @ 12:28 am

The record “OH SUCH A PERFECT DAY” just about sums it up because it was all sunshine, crowds of people enjoying it all and lots to do/just watch, not to mention plenty to eat and drink!

May Fayre 2008After a great deal of planning and quest for events/stalls and other attractions it all started on Friday evening with Mike Harrowven, Michael & Jan Logan and Brian Baker, measuring up and marking out the location of all the Car Boot bays, the individual stalls and stands, big games all around the 40metre square arena area to meet Health & Safety regulations for the display by the Fire Display Team with their conserved fire engines and “burning down” shed.

The first arrivals turned up at 7.45 Saturday morning in order to erect one of the biggest slides we’d ever seen towering some 40ft high, swiftly followed and almost overrun by Car Boots and Stall holders coming from all directions – it took some management to get them to go to their allocated space and Ray Dorrington deserves a medal for keeping his cool! Wind Turbine Alert for Dickleburgh Public Exhibition 12th June 2008 in Tivetshall

Filed under: Village News, Wind Farm News — Nigel @ 2:38 pm

I’m sure you know that parts of Dickleburgh will be significantly affected by the “Tivetshall” wind turbines if the Enertrag proposal goes ahead.  It is not just a Tivetshall issue!

Enertrag are holding a public exhibition on Thursday, 12th June 2008 at the Tivetshall Village Hall.  Representatives of Enertrag will be in attendance to answer questions.  It is important that the strength of feeling against this ridiculous proposal is shown to Enertrag and South Norfolk District Council. So, unless you are completely happy with the thought of having 6 x 125metre high monster wind turbines overhanging your village and surrounding areas for the next 25 years+, my suggestion is that you make your views known by attending and speaking out!

I know that the exhibition runs until 8:00p.m. I do not know the precise start time but do know that it will be open at 3:00p.m., possibly earlier.  Keep your eyes open for signs, brochures etc.  If you wish to make sure,  you can ring Enertrag (at Diss) on 01379 642564.
