Dickleburgh May Fayre – Saturday 31st May 2008
The record “OH SUCH A PERFECT DAY” just about sums it up because it was all sunshine, crowds of people enjoying it all and lots to do/just watch, not to mention plenty to eat and drink!
After a great deal of planning and quest for events/stalls and other attractions it all started on Friday evening with Mike Harrowven, Michael & Jan Logan and Brian Baker, measuring up and marking out the location of all the Car Boot bays, the individual stalls and stands, big games all around the 40metre square arena area to meet Health & Safety regulations for the display by the Fire Display Team with their conserved fire engines and “burning down” shed.
The first arrivals turned up at 7.45 Saturday morning in order to erect one of the biggest slides we’d ever seen towering some 40ft high, swiftly followed and almost overrun by Car Boots and Stall holders coming from all directions – it took some management to get them to go to their allocated space and Ray Dorrington deserves a medal for keeping his cool!
