Dickleburgh & Rushall Village Centre – Revision Of Hire Charges And Scope Of Facilities

Filed under: The Village Centre News — sean @ 2:12 pm

Taking into account rising costs and the completion of a high quality kitchen  a special meeting of the Management of the Village Centre decided to make relatively small adjustments to the current charges to take effect from April 1st 2008.

The major changes are primarily concerned because the kitchen is equipped to a high standard making it possible to produce high quality food in hygienic conditions favourable for the use of external caterers, Equipped with quality twin cookers, Microwave Oven, Deep fat Fryers, Hot Cupboard, Stainless Steel ”Prep” table and Dishwasher, supplemented with a large stock of cutlery and crockery in a freshly decorated and entirely new fittings it has a kitchen “to die for”. All this equipment is costly to operate.

The Hall itself has a capability of holding up to 120 people and the low cost Committee Room alone is ideal for Meetings!

Details of the pricing structure is too wieldy to publish but to give an idea- to hire the use of the HALL, COMMITTEE ROOM, KITCHEN AND LICENSED BAR falls into a price range of  only £66 to £82 to bona-fide residents of Dickleburgh & Rushall, with a higher price range of £95 to £115 to non-residents.

WHATEVER THE RANGE THE PRICES ARE EXTREMELY COMPETITIVE. (more…)

Dickleburgh & Rushall Village Centre – Upgraded Kitchen

Filed under: The Village Centre News — Brian Baker @ 9:25 am

This week heralds a new era for the Dickleburgh & Rushall Village Centre for work has finished on a complete “makeover” of the kitchen in the Village Centre making it a “dream world” for the local food preparers and to a standard suitable for the use of outside caterers. Accordingly, the Village Centre Management will be promoting the use of the Centre’s facilities for Weddings, Engagements and other celebrations requiring first class catering!

With the newly decorated Hall capable of holding 120, a Committee/Meeting Room, a licensed bar available, this superb kitchen and a spacious car park facilities it is all set to go!

It is proposed to hold an open day early in May (when the weather is better – we hope) and this will be publicised at the time.

In the meantime interested parties are welcome to come and view the facilities.

Enabling the Village Centre Management Committee (all volunteers) to achieve this, thanks and gratitude must go to WREN (Waste Recycling Environmental Ltd) who provided bulk of the finance required, backed up by further essential grants from South Norfolk Council and the Neighbourhood Forum. Local company, Greenacre General Builders, procured the materials and did an excellent job.

The Dickleburgh & Rushall Village Centre is coming to life!

Dickleburgh Christmas Fayre

Filed under: Village Events, The Village Centre News — sean @ 1:57 pm

In The Village Centre, Saturday 15th December 2007.

Xmas Fayre 2007This was truly a real “Village” event, with all the stalls being purely from village organisations – not a “commercial” stall in sight. Most were there, The Royal British Legion Men’s & Ladies, Friends of Dickleburgh School, Dickleburgh Bowling Club, All Saints Church PCC, Good Companions, Village Centre Events, Village Society and Rushall PCC.

Despite a published and advertised opening time of 2.30pm, some thought it was 2.00pm so it was necessary to open earlier, with the event being opened by Lord Ron Duffy of Denbury Downs.

Introduced by Fayre Chairman, Brian Baker, it was explained that Lord Duffy did indeed reside locally and in fact arrived in the area as simply Doctor Ron Duffy becoming heavily involved in the Royal British Legion Branch. He subsequently inherited the title as a result of a death in his family.

The hall itself having recently been redecorated and garnished with large Christmas Decorations was further enhanced by the display of auction items on the stage area offset by hanging pairs of pheasants, donated by Sir Rupert Mann, and sprigs of well berried locally picked holly.

The build up of visitors was quite dramatic with the homemade food being a popular target with one stall being cleared of a large quantity of small Pheasant Pies almost immediately.

All the stalls did very well, in most cases exceeding expectations. Father Christmas in his Grotto handed out over 40 items to eager (some fearful) children, whilst large quantities of teas, coffees, home made cakes and bacon butties were consumed.

The auction, brought forward time wise by demand, conducted by the regular team of Tim Baldry assisted by Francis Woodrow, sold off all the items donated by the clubs taking part, and the villagers themselves with the largest being a complete fireplace and surround, with the Grand Draw following up once more with a range of prizes donated by clubs, villagers and local businesses. The winners of the Children’s Christmas Card competition, Judged and presented by Lord & Lady Duffy were announced and suddenly all was gone and it was left to clear up.

The list of people who deserve special mention and thanks for all their work in organising and preparing the event, taking part and finally clearing up is long, but both they and those who came along know who they are as their commitment was there for all to see!
